The huge shard floats ahead of the ship, ominously silent now that the bizarre signal has finished, the facility nestled into it's curve, a tiny speck against the confounding immensity of the shard, an easily missable energy signature all that denotes it's presence.
Fort_Master_Gustav
The Ambassador does not struggle to perceive the immensity of the shard, after all, his creators knew of the Children, though they had not actually interacted with the interstellar colossi personally, however something was off with this remnant of the beast's great shell, he could sense a power in it, one that could not be directly defined, something that was logical given the immense energy of the psion that was the G-S16 child, but he could not sense the child itself... for a psychic life form of this magnitude to die and leave no trace of it's mind, no fragments of itself ragged as they would be clinging to the remains of it's being was unusual, for the persistence of such super-consciousnesses even after death was usual in some form, though, it was unclear how long ago this creature met it's end, and as such, time was most probably the cause of this.
*This thing had died a very long time ago...*

The shard, is almost inconceivable. The thing is thicker than the approximate size of two regular Solar bodies, about as wide as four, and as long as almost seven, it 's density is immense, and the integrity of the material suggests that it is so insanely structurally dense it should have a gravity well that would have instantly crushed the ship, or anything else in the vicinity into it's surface, and yet the gravity appears slightly less than the galactic standard of most habitable worlds, it also appears to have it's own atmosphere, though this is thin, and composed of mostly some sort of exotic gas that the scan concludes (In order of least to most likely; ) is either a scanner error, as yet undiscovered, anomalous in it's current form, or does not causally exist. The Shard itself seems to be constantly expelling some form of energy, though the structure of the shard has been laced with superconductive cables of some sort... the entire shard, not partially, all of it, and this huge structure feeds straight into facility, though to what end it is uncertain.

The facility is about the size of a large city, with sprawling domes and tunnels, blocky buildings, and a vast central array of domes and spires that is almost cathedralesque, there are also 25 huge slabs of hangars, almost all of which have their doors firmly shut, though three do not, one having caved in, another having a slit of a gap open in it's doors, and a third being fully open, there is a huge EL ship of some sort inside that appears to have collapsed it's docking structure, lying lopsided on the floor of the hangar. The hangars seem to be the only form of entry to the facility from this distance, though it would not be surprising if this were because the visitors were simply too far away to see conventional access portals in the facility's surface, there are also many toppled defense weapon emplacements that look as if they fell from the recoil of their own guns.

The signal is transmitted to the visitors from the central area of the complex, though it's threat seems hollow, none of the weapon emplacements seem operational.

However another message is transmitted, this time from one of the closed hangars, directed at the Collective ship...
---MAINTAINANCE REQUIRED---
One of the lower hangars begins to grind open, and an ancient landing beacon flickers an irregular signal to the ship, the doors wrench to a point where they are half open, then sputter to a halt, though the gap they present would still be more than enough for a cruiser to land within, if such ships could.
