As the ships enter the space surrounding the facility, there is a power spike, in a substation on the surface, an enforcer array begins to power up, drawing it's energy from the strange shard it is located on...
And explodes, it's antiquated systems overloaded, ripping through a large area of the installation.
Different areas of the facility begin to power up, some of the flat slabs of buildings opening, as huge cruisers are shown, beginning to rise from their hangars.

The transmission was odd, very odd, with seemingly no connection between most of the words, and broken within the first part, relayed in a voice that sounded like a very basic text to speech system, the ships continue to rise, and there is silence for another few seconds, then the facility's weapons fire, beginning to spew a glittering rain of stasis rounds into the space around it, the weapons fire wildly, most innacurate to the point that they are merely shooting into empty space, the cruisers raise their shields, what they can of them at least, and begin to fire thrusters, angling up toward the intruders, their crescent shapes like maws open to devour those awakening them from their slumber.

"We.. Feast... Today.. Brothers.."

The spires begin ignoring the small ship. Instead, they attempt to Pierce the unknown cruisers.. waiting for any opening..
Upon one of the cruisers' hull being impaled by the Venata Spire, it immediately begins to spread, ripping through the ship and controlling its systems one by one, the surface of the ship begins to grow Grotesque Outcroppings and more Spires, which launch off to target other cruisers.. Inside, it would spread throughout, with each system taken, it grows more capable of controlling the ship for their own purpose.

(Edit: I don't know the exact size of the ship, but the bigger it is the longer it will take to gain full control, so it could actually do a lot before turning to a Venata Amalgam.)

The drones scramble with impressive speed, dodging the projectiles as their shieldings aren't capable with handling them. They swerve around the ships and installations, as they dispense short bursts of antimatter upon them, aiming to disable the weaponry of the ships, and their mobility.

Tson The Small Ship Exits via slipspace, and through the same portal, Comes Three CSO Class Cruisers, Each one Nearly A Mile Long, along with 5 Minotaur Battlecruisers, The Ship's Surfaces Dotted with Hundreds of Anti-Fighter And Anti-Projectile Machine Guns, Huge Cannons Designed to Blast Away Armor and Venata Infection alike, And the Thing's Main Weapon, a Huge Spinal Plasma Beam, With enough power to Melt Almost a Metre of Armor in less than a Second Those Beams all focus Fire on the Venata Amalgam (FangTheCat) while the CSO Cruisers Main Cannons And Plasma Batteries Focusing on the Crescents.

The Venata ship turns quickly.. And instead of attacking, all of the grotesque spikes begin repositioning themselves..
The ship begins humming loudly as it faces directly towards one of the CSO Cruisers..
It accelerates, A Low-Energy Void Rail Accelerating it to impact the side of the Cruiser, while Spires rip off inside the ship in order to begin taking over, crew inside have to fight the horrifying creatures covered in a blood-like liquid, with everything they touch becoming like them..

Meanwhile, the Unknown Cruiser being taken over begins to refocus only several of the cruiser's weapons, while it still has free reign over most of its functions, some weapons along with roughly a 4th of its exterior covered in the Venata mass.

"Take.. Take.. Take.. Take!"

Multiple energy signatures are detected, moving via Void Rail towards the location.

The massive cruisers, 20 in number, begin to move forward, toward the embattled ships, missiles springing from them and winding in toward the fleets, indiscriminately, and stasis cannons continuing to fire on the drones that swarm about them, the shields however are not holding up well, and one of the cruisers is hit in it's drives, and begins to slew to one side, then something unexpected occurs, it's entire port 'wing' of it's crescent detonates slowly, the other side spinning out of control and down toward the fragment surface, ploughing into it and creating a furrow, another cruiser's power signature is fluctuating, and it's drives and shields keep flickering, shutting down then powering up again.

Down on the facility, a defence node topples, it's aged metal unable to withstand the huge recoil of it's guns, still firing as it spins down into the dirt, a stasis round puncturing the shard, travelling down, down into it, eventually it will emerge from the other side, but not for some days.

The CSO Cruiser Absorbs most of the venata Infection Spires with the shields, only one gets through, and Many Internal Turrets open fire on the Thing, a Program self destructing them when anything venata in nature Touches them.

Multiple Venata ships exit the Void Rail, Only two Avisters, similar to the current ship, but multiple higher end Venata ships.
The Damaged Avister pushes against the CSO Cruiser, It's VoidCore repowering in order to drag itself and the Cruiser into a Void Rail.

The Other Venata ships all release Spires, while one of the ships focuses all firepower on the shields of the Minotaurs, using High-Energy Absence Tethers to pull energy from the shields, and anything else that requires energy..
Excess energy gets shot out Venata Exhausts, creating Jets of Void Energy and singing the Venata flesh.
Venata Spires increase in aggressiveness, attempting to push themselves into the Hull of any ships, occasionally a Spire will accelerate itself to Near-Light Speeds in order to cause as much damage as possible, be it to shielding or to hull.

The Single of its kind brought by the Void Rail, the Venata ship Powers up its massive front-facing weapon. It aims directly towards the Minotaurs.

The Operators disengage from the EL ships, instead, they now engage in combat with the cruisers. They move weirdly towards the cruisers, and soon the reason is revealed, as in the graviational wake of their movement the drones accumulated hundreds of stasis rounds. Unable to effectively defend against the Operators propell the bunched projectiles towards the CSO Cruisers, as they scramble once again, and start unleashing numerous antimatter beam blasts towards the guns of the cruisers, at semi-random intervals.
Half of the force swerves around the cruisers, and fires the beams at their thrusters, seeking to eliminate the mobility of the ships.

The decision of the intruders to focus on the Minotaurs is a rather rash one, the holes in the Cruiser's shields are dissapearing, and the cruiser that was experiencing power issues appears to be resolving them, most it's drives firing cleanly now, though some appear to be inactive in areas, the missiles begin to target the drones, the ships aged battle computers realising that the stasis cannons cannot find their mark, instead focusing on the Veneta ships, the glittering rain of death spreading out toward them. One of the cruisers raises a Stasis field... but has evidently forgotten how to use it, it's weapons splashing ineffectively on the inside of the field.

The new arrivals find themselves in the midst of huge fragments of some sort of shell, on one shard, 450,000 miles across, is a singularly odd facility the size of several cities, dark, a sprawling mass of generators, squat buidlings, defence arrays and odd structures that seem to have no visible use, the ships also notice that a large confrontation of some sort is being carried out, 19 huge crescent shaped cruisers facing off against smaller craft that dance and flit around them, the giant cruisers attempting to swat them as a mule flicks it's tail at an annoying fly.

*Upon the entrance of the spires to the affected cruiser, the amalgam in question feels a burning pain across it's surface, Additionally, the spires find themselves withering as they enter the ship...
Internally, the EL cruiser was a battleground, EL drones exiting their charging pods and tramping through the corridors, where they encounter the spires they deploy their weapons, flaying the semi organic material with jets of plasma, melting away the mess of corruption, additionally a plasma grid in the ship switches to amalgamation repulsion mode, jetting the seething hot plasma from breaches in the ship's structure where the spires penetrate it, the EL had dealt with many such species before, and they did not go without learning.

As the veneta invasion of the ship is repelled however, the structural integrity given by the mess becomes nonexistant, the two halves floating away from each other, and being quickly dragged into the gravitational pull of the shard below, firing still as it sinks.

The Venata Ships Immediately change targets to the cruisers, Venata ships target the shields of the cruisers, followed by Venata Spires attempting to pierce the Hull, in order to transform the ship into a Venata Amalgam.

The Damaged Avister's front seems to heal itself, the red Biological plating becoming white, becoming stronger against the attacks.. although it still lacks many functions due to the battles with the CSO Cruisers

The Single Venata ship of its kind in this battle, the Shorner Releases energy over a small area, it targets the holes in the shields of the cruisers, and upon the blast hitting the hull, a bright light could be gazed upon, but only for a moment before a Cruiser is visibly split in two.. The Shorner backs away from the fight as it recharges... Allowing the other ships to continue the fight.

Into the broken halves of the single ship, Spires reach inside, and as the halves each start to succumb to the Infestation, writhing tentacles reach out from each half, attempting to fix the massive chunk of the ship that was just torn apart, to make it One under the control of the Venata Infestation.

(Shorner is the last ship that I posted earlier.. it's also basically useless for a good chunk of the battle now, it's really powerful but nearly worthless defense and almost No offense if not for the massive cannon)

The drones seem to be incredibly fast, their capable movement devices aided by a shortening of space itself with precise graviational manipulation, leading them to accelerate in wild directions faster than the missiles can swerve around. Using that to their advantage, added to powerful electrical laser PD systems (It's a stream of electrons inside of a tube of laser, it works as a double laser-EMP device, and it's actually a real thing, long-range tazer) which work in short blasts dragging some of the matter of the external burner shield system with them and dumping them on the missiles.
One of the drones however gets hit full-on by a missile that managed to get past the dozens of defensive systems in place. The drone, detecting the damage, automatically detonates the internal core, and ensures a multi-megaton detonation due to the power of the antimatter. The sheer volume of energy floods and desintegrates the internals of the drone, until being met with an extremely reflective internal coating that automatically and passively redirects the energy of the detonation out of thin exhaust ports. Before the onslaught of the main blast gets away from the interior of the drone, in a few microseconds, extremely powerful laser beams flood the area, carefully avoiding the allied forces and directed at the EL ships and defenses present. Afterwards, the main source of the blast catches on, desintegrating the rest of the ship and leaving no trace of it behind but a colourful puff of smoke.
The rest of the drones seem to ignore the detonation of one of their fallen comrade as they avoid the split-second beam generated by it, and continue to do antimatter beam attacks towards the EL cruisers, redirecting their own stasis rounds towards them whenever viable to do so.

Despite the excessive damage to the Venata mass, more spires are still being launched, with each wave gaining increased armor while moving slower as a result.

The Shorner's few artificial lights go out as if drifts backwards in space slowly.

Avisters and Thrazas attack at full force, first attempting to lower the shields and proceeding to attack the weapons of the more functional cruisers.

The heavily damaged Avister repowers a Void Rail..

The Avister enters the Void Rail and accelerates backwards into FTL.
(Void Rail is just special FTL, can go forwards or backwards, but moves faster than traditional FTL Drives.)

The EL ships swap their munitions, the automatic systems loading long oddly truncated warheads into the cannons, upon firing and when they have reached a pre-determined distance from the ships, they split, launching shrapnel-like smaller stasis rounds similar to grapeshot, that saturate the surrounding space, the EL ships also redirect their missiles to focus on the spires, their laser boring warheads set to drill into the outer layer and explode on impact, supplemented by conventional stasis rounds.

One of the cruisers suffers damage to it's port side due to the detonation of the drone, several of it's batteries being taken out of commission, this would not have mattered, had it not been for the fact that the cruiser's AI had inexplicably armed all of the warheads in it's armory at the start of the battle, as a result, the ship cooks off in a magnificent detonation, a roiling ball of plasma expanding from it's once position and melting the exterior of the damaged cruiser segments that are currently falling toward the fragment below, also saturating the shields of another nearby cruiser.

As the Venata ships become more aggressive, a heavily damaged Venata ship sets itself in position of directly facing one of the lesser-damaged cruisers.. It activates the Void Rail, creating a bust of energy forward and backwards. (This Energy would not cause damage to the Cruiser, but causes minor heat damage to the Already damaged Venata ship) The Ship Proceeds to accelerate itself to Near-Light speeds in forward movement, on a direct collision course with the Cruiser. (This is the type of ship, if its important.)

Other Venata ships focus on Damaged yet functional cruisers, in order to shut them down permanently, with all weapons working separately, with some weapons being used as point defense when needed, even if unconventional.

The drones do a fly-by close to the wall of stasis projectiles, motioning sections of the wall back towards the cruisers that fired them. The focused fire being away from them allows them to do more precise attacks on the weapons emplacements, dumping several antimatter beams onto them.

The Veneta ship smashes into the cruiser, which makes no attempt to evade, it's starboard wing warping and disintegrating from the impact, there are explosions across the ship as it's structural integrity fails, and it blooms into another explosion, searing plasma rippling across the immediate area with unbearable ferocity.

The shots from the antimatter beams spark across the surface of the cruisers, provoking an odd reaction from the armour composite as they connect that is comparable to a firecracker, and does little but cosmetic damage, however the shot from the ship's own weapons is another matter, ploughing into the cruiser with ease, internal explosions marking it's progress, the ship begins to follow it's previous companions in a slow unpowered descent toward the shard surface.

The rippling plasma incinerates the front of the ship, which appears to go offline while it begins slow repair and regrowth of its plating, although it will not be able to repair the small Void-Ring (Thruster Ring) near the front of the ship, which was heavily damaged during the attack.

Several Venata ships abruptly change their tactic, rather than a complete disregard for their own safety, several start strafing and using advanced manuevers to avoid damage to more sensitive parts while still firing weapons with surprising accuracy.

Something seems different about the ships which changed their tactic, as if they suddenly evolved while the others still attempt using brute force. They seem to use their grotesque outcroppings as appendages rather than dead weight.

Analyzing the previous places of internal detonation and seeing the normal antimatter dumps weren't working, the drones automatically shift for a neutron-focused antimatter beam. The shots are less frequent due to the specificity of the particle, but it pays off in the capacity to ignore armor. So much to the point that the drones have to fire in specific vectors that wouldn't collide with Venata ships that were behind the cruisers, as the shots even have a chance to overpen the cruisers.
