United Nations Shipyards Begin Production of Newly Designed Ships Including "Most Heavily Armed Ship in The Colonies"

With heavy militarisation in the northern colonies, More advanced, Larger ships are being produced and at a faster rate than ever before. Industrial worlds such as Omega Periallus VIII where UN ships are widely produced report 160% efficiency and with the LRPT scare mostly over, large cargo ships dominate official shipping routes once again.
The United Nation's Geneva Station Data Archive has compiled a list of all current United Nations ship classes which are in service, This data being readily available to the public.
Shuttle Craft
The United Nations Compact Shuttle is a small lander designed to transport UN officials and troops to other ships or the surfaces of planets. This ship is currently the cheapest vessel used by the United Nations Space Administration with its minimal armour and small, Martian built ion sub-light drive engines

A step up from the compact shuttle, The UN Shuttlecraft has a much larger sub-light drive, as well as heavier armour. This allows the shuttle to better defend itself while still maintaining its fast speeds and narrow shape which when combined make it hard to hit with conventional weapons. Most larger vessels will have at least one hidden compartment for such a shuttle, it's relatively small frame allowing UN ships to carry them within their hulls.

Fighters
With most other fighters now retired, The UN heavy fighter which combines elements of both a fighter and a bomber and then puts those qualities in a fast, sleek frame remains the only still active UN fighter as its effectiveness in that role is unparalleled. The ship has armour shielding over key components making able to tank multiple guided plasma torpedo shots before key systems are too damaged. On top of its 3 torpedo launchers the ship has two forward facing high yield plasma cannons giving it weapons that can fire in all directions. It's larger frame also allows for the storage of one LRPT which can destroy a ship of similar size in one shot, however, despite the fighter's heavy armour and weapons, the compact interior means that a hit to the reactor can near instantaneously flood the ship with lethal ionising radiation, killing all crew.

Corvette
The UN corvette is a more outdated ship but it still performs very well in the military and is considered an active class. The ship has extremely powerful weapons as well as a wide torpedo launcher coverage allowing it to assist fighters in combat, acting as a PD platform. The reason the ship is now used less is due to an accumulative design flaw within the vessel where constant use of the Alcubierre drive can put strain on the sloping frame of the ship to the point of structural collapse. While the vessel still has a high combat performance, Many of the class have begun to succumb to the structural flaw and no new ones are being constructed to replace them making them an ever rarer sight in the colonies.

Destroyers
The UN Destroyer is a mid-sized anti capital ship vessel designed to take on larger vessels with its forward focused plasma torpedo launchers and its central main guns. Thick frontal armour allows the ship to withstand a larger ship's main guns while the destroyer uses its extremely fast ion engines to dodge LRPTS or quickly flee from a larger ship after attacking. While its main sub-light drive is considerably vulnerable, The destroyer can use its superior speed to be constantly adjusting to the larger ships movements to ensure the engines are not in the line of fire.

The UN Torpedo Destroyer is similar to the standard destroyer except that it has more firepower, A more favourable torpedo fire coverage for most Captains and has a much higher number of LRPTs, allowing these vessels to serve as long range missile platforms which can destroy ships at 20km away, Far outside of the effective weapons range of anything except a specialised platform like a planetary defence railgun. As this ship was built soon after the creation of the LRPT, it makes sense that it would harness the new technology in a way that no UN ship before it has tried to do.

Transport
The United Nations Transport is a lightly armoured, moderately armed UN ship made to ferry a civilian population. Because of this, the UN's typical, More militaristic, utilitarian interiors are on these transports replaced with more spacious corridors and a much sleeker look designed to calm the temporary passengers. Such ships will be dispatched to ferry the crews of ships that have broken down or relocate settlers from a planet. As the ship is not too combat orientated, the ship has a relatively slower, smaller sub-light drive with the weapons only in place to protect the transport from piracy or in some cases, the threat causing the civilians to evacuate via the transport. The ship also has a small internal bay in which 4 compact shuttles are suspended on twin mounting pylons.

Exploratory Ships
The UN's 2190s Science Cruiser was a revolutionary, fast, comfortable ship designed for a small crew of scientists and civilian researchers. Fitted with an Alcubierre drive and traveling the galaxy at many magnitudes greater than light speed, these ships could study anomalies and potentially find alien life far beyond UN space. Shortly after these ships returned from exiting north of the UN colonies at full speed, rapid militarisation and fleet construction has occurred since then especially around that area, leaving some to believe that the vessels had achieved their goal of finding intelligent, extra terrestrial life.

Part of a new generation of interstellar exploration vessels, This long range exploration cruiser has been sent to phase out most of the smaller, lightly armed science vessels as the UN for some reason believes that such vessels should now be armed with military grade large turrets. This ship also has considerable torpedo coverage as well as a large sub-light drive such as the ones seen on destroyers. While many question the need for such a heavily armed vessel considering it will be far beyond UN space, The United Nations defence branch simply responds "it would be safer for the researchers to live aboard a more redundant ship during exploration" While this is seen by most as being an overcompensation, There is not a lot the public can do to further protest this decision by the UN.

Carrier
After years of deploying fighters from space stations and having them severely limited in range, The UN's Carrier finally allows for more efficient use of fighters, Allowing them to be dispatched around multiple systems and planets from one, warp capable source. Despite its large frame the ship still maintains firepower equivalent to that of a corvette, A majority of its weapons being light turrets
aimed at disabling fighters. The ship's relative lack of weapons and high tactical value to the UN make it a tempting target for pirates looking to loosen the UN's ability to respond to crimes in a specific region.

Cruiser
The United Nation's brand new Cruiser is a heavily armed, large vessel used frequently as UN command ships during fleet operations. Its size allows for internal bays which carry Plasma Warheads capable of destroying a large area of land or a majority of a station making it an extremely powerful tactical asset in the hands of an experienced Captain. With the ship's so far brief history for carrying high ranking UN officers and VIPs it seems only fitting that one ship of this class, The UNV-8869 Farragut serves as the United Nations ship dedicated to the transport of UN one, The Presidential Spacecraft of the UN colonies.

UN One
UN One is the United Nations colony's presidential ship. The ship has its own Alcubierre warp drive as well as comfortable quarters and a distinct meeting room. When on diplomatic missions, The President of the UN will typically arrive in the unarmed ship, normally dispatched from the Farragut which would remain near by, allowing for the illusion of an unarmed gathering while the cruiser shadows UN One at a distance.

Battleship
The UN Battleship, being called "The most heavily armed ship in The Colonies " has a massive frame, which while making it vulnerable to LRPT fire, allows it to tank the firepower of entire fleets. Its 28 military grade turrets and 20 torpedo launchers allow the vessel to deal considerable damage to anything within its range while the internally stored plasma warheads allow for long distance combat as well as orbital bombardment operations which while the UN would have no need to do, could theoretically be carried out by this ship. Called out for its overkill weapons systems compared to any other ship in the colonies, The UN maintains that such vessels will be needed for the future yet fails to disclose why, with the 5 in service currently positioned in orbit of large, northern colonies like Epsilon Aturnons and Corsus VII and more currently under construction, The Europa, Agatha King and Leonidas all currently under construction at Bernard Shipyards at Omega Periallus VIII's 3rd moon.
