Thanks to everyone who tested RC1! RC2 is now available for testing!

Download 0.15.8_rc2 or auto-update via the unstable branch.

Changes since RC1:

Follow and formation orders will now use "orbit" logic when maneuvering around the lead ship.
Ion Prism targeting now snaps to 45-degree angles. Hold Ctrl to disable snapping.
The default hotkey for toggling direct weapons control is now Ctrl+Alt+W because Ctrl+W was too easy to accidentally press.
Increased the starting distance options in multiplayer by 50%.
Increased the default Battle Helper distance by 50%.
Fixed centering of loading screen text.
Fixed a handful of built-in ships whose Ion Prisms had become messed up do to the changes to Ion Prisms.
Misc translation updates.
Bugfix: Using the T key to adjust an attack command that had been rotation-targeted would cause the ship to have the wrong orientation.
RC Bugfix: Crash when opening control settings.
RC Bugfix: It wasn't possible to use the handles to adjust attack or follow commands.
RC Bugfix: Crash when loading a saved game where a ship with an attack or follow command has a rotation target.
RC Bugfix: Using the strafe command with a formation now works properly.
RC Bugfix: Loading a ship design into an empty build grid didn't do anything.
RC Bugfix: Desyncs caused by using formations.
Modding: Part targetors now have optional 'SnapToAngles' and 'SnapToAngleDistance' parameters that control angle snapping when targeting ship-local points.

For those of us who have long dreamed of a joint mechanism, the revised ion prism with flexible aim seem to have taken one step closer to possibility of a rotatable joint with extendable arm or even corridor.

-Imagine ion prism being the joint or end-point
-Extendable arm (beam) could be directed to any direction or connected to another joint/end-point
-Wider extendable arm could act as corridor/structure for crews to pass through.

Well, no harm for wishful thinking...

clojelo Walt did say he can do it in a few seconds but obviously this is reserved for the released version. So it will come just not now. Anyhow, Abh has long used modded joints and the like so this is certainly is a much needed convenient feature. 😄

Because hinges are gonna take forever, he answered with them because he'd rather get them done instantly with no effort.

Well, I think most would interpret it my way, though.
Anyhow, I already have modded "hinges" for Abh last year. So that's probably contributed to my interpretation.

Lafiel It is possible to create hinges in vanilla, but ftl wil be a bit troublesome. And with abh rooffillers and/or hangar roofs you can even hide the hinges
