Subby84 Get ready for a hell lotta constructive criticism bro... cause inefficiency is my pet peeve 😛
- whoa now 15k more per missile launcher (240k in total) for an 18% increase in firepower is not worth the cost. Not to mention the second missile factory for every missile launcher is too far to be useful.
- I do not recommend the copy paste method that you used especially when I see 1 FTL and 1 CR for every single missile launcher. Thats an extra 20k per missile launcher (320k in total). I would recommend doing one of each every 3-5 missile launchers which will reduce that cost by 200k+ while still retaining the exact same efficiency
- I would still recommend doing 1 reactor for every 2 missile launchers, which would cut down costs by 120k
- You probably only really need 1 shield per block, but if you are sustaining a lot of firepower, by all means keep it
If you do get rid of a shield, that aslo saved you 6 crew per compartment, which is 11k saved (176k in total)
- I noticed that even when both shields are down and missiles are firing, not all 32 crew in a compartment are working. I noticed that 8 of them just sit in their bunks doing nothing ALL THE TIME. That's another 8k to do nothing. (128k saved total)
In total, you could easily save up to almost a MILLION credits while still being at least 80% as efficient. And with that cheaper cost, you could build more missile launchers yay! Also a million less credits, means your ship is also lighter, and will fly faster
I must say your thruster setup is really efficient and there's no way i could make it better and i do love the extreme compartmentalization
With just a few changes, I was able to cut down the cost to just 2,649k (840k saved!), crew down to 504 from 728-30%!) and reduced the weight by 750 tonnes

so i decided to battle the 2 ships out, and I expected yours to win only because of the double shields and I was right. However, my version was able to completely take out 4 compartments and disable a few others.
So I decided to even it out by making my own that had 2 shields. This ship used this missile block below. The difference is, it still cost 600k less than your MK II.

This time around my version won with your ship only taking out 1 section and disabling 4 others.
With this design I found that even when the missile launcher/factory are destroyed, the shields can still stay up as the reactor is still protected. This means that the enemy still has to go through these shields to get through the neighboring compartments.
I also found that by moving the factory up so that the travel distance is 2 blocks instead of 3 blocks, this design has the exact same efficiency (33 missiles/minute)
Here's the full ship
