Space, the vast empty frontier, where the final streaks of civilizations and life will find their glory, and their demise. Either by others, naturality or themselves.
One such species, while not from G-S16, was approaching G-S16, their home galaxy ravaged in war, strife and collapse, but a shadow of itself, left alone by most extragalactic empires for it’s insignificance and small size.
For hundreds of years they’ve drifted through the void between galaxies, carried by their worldships and their ‘problematic’ technology. the first worldships nearing their goal, more on the way, but still far from their goal.
Now the first three arrive at their goal, an obvious gravitational anomaly going at FTL speeds being clearly detected approaching the galaxy of G-S16.
The numerous beeping of multiple devices in the bridge of the 2nd worldship filled the light air. The walled screens connected to camera arrays on the sensor towers which littered the worldships hull together with the massive gravity generators which whirred and shined, spewing their gamma radiation as they held up the Alcubierre bubble around the worldship and several other ships between 20 and 40 kilometres in length using their generators to assist the worldships titanic generators in the upholding of the massive bubble of spacetime.
The massive insect like bodies of the Valairii standing at 6 meters height, their 6 large carapaced legs holding up their large bodies, easily capable of trampling a grown man.
Green mucus like bacterial flowers covered patches of their thick spiked carapace, likening the resemblance of a massive spider, but where it’s head should be was the large body of a humanoid, their heads resembling helmets with 6 small crimson eyes laying tightly protected in the Valairii carapaced heads, but giving enough of a view to not be especially limiting.
The fungus like flowers which grew in patches across their bodies glowed green, feeding on the surrounding gamma radiation and supplying the Valairii with nutrients while the Varairii hosted them in a symbiotic relationship. Some of the fungus resembling flowers. The chittering of some of the Valairii filling the room as buttons were pressed and terminals showed data. The Valairii captain going around, viewing the terminals that showed relevant data and information about the worldships current state, and the state of the other two worldships.
The worldships AI’s going through simulations and calculations, having awoken the bridge crew and some of the worldships engineers as the worldships were close to reaching their destination within minutes. Readying to awake some of the civilian populace when the worldships have refueled their reactors and solar matter reserves. Much of the ships life support except for the cryostasis pods were inactive.
‘’How much longer until we’ve arrived?’’ The captain, Ava’hur, asked. One of the Valairii chittered orders to one of the others, Ava’hur being too far away to rasonably hear what they discussed, One of them turned their humanoid body to the captain. ‘’35 seconds till we’ve arrived at destination star system, 74 million kilometres away from star, class M main sequence with a diameter of 1,2 million.’’ The Valairii chittered aloud to the captain. Ava’hur chittered a affirmative chitter, lifting up his rear legs and stomping with them.
The Valairii responded with the same gesture, stomping two times with their back legs then turning back to continue monitoring the worldships status.
Then there was a bang, but it was unhearable, for there is no sound in space. the only noticeable thing was the disappearance of the timespace anomalies that approached, the gravitational anomaly it carried lessening severely as three planet sized objects took their place near the solar systems star in where a planet like mercury would orbit the star.
Several other ships were among the worldships, all over 10 kilometres. But it is common knowledge that most of the time, long range sensors can be unreliable at times.
Although it was pretty obvious they were not from G-S16, their location in one of the star systems on G-S16’s very edge.
It could be worth checking out.
