Ava'hur looked at the Rudra as they said their parting words and did their traditional gesture of goodbye and returned the bow with his upper body. Then when the Rudra closed their transmission he switched over to the AD.
''Correct, and the way they work is quite complicated but clever. We do have airlocks but they're only in the shipyards where our smaller ships are manufactured. And the way we use them is a bit... wierd to others.''
Ava'hur looked at something else for some seconds, chittering could be heard from a source out of sight of the visual feed. Then he chittered something back, the AI's of the worldships seemingly not bothering with translating. Then he turned back.
''I'd say it might be your turn to tell us about the Ascendant Dawn but we'll have to continue this conversation after we have finished harvesting.''
Ava'hur bowed with his humanoid part. Then the visual feed cut into static, then it was properly cut. As the worldships closed into 1 million kilometres of the solar systems star, it's colours darkening as a kind of dark shield covered them, blocking the dangers of being so close to a star. The gravity fields which acted as omnidirectional acceleration shifted direction as the worldships decelerated much more rapidly as many of the gravity generators glowed brighter, shining through the dark shield.
The smaller ships were spread across the star's surface, skidding along the burning ball of fusion as they had redirected their direction across. Then, they dove down, diving beneath the surface of plasma in a almost suicidal manner, then they reappeared diving out as they accelerated with brightened, reinvigorated lights as all of their gravity generators were online, and most of their reactors were online, their reserves filled to the brim.
Then the worldships neared, reaching 100'000 kilometres of distance. Then the generators whirred, spilling radiation as they warmed up together with newly activated reactors.
Energy readings shortly surged on the 4 tips of the worldships fronts, then 4 red beams surged forwards, diving into the ball of burning fusion, exciting the area and bringing millions of tons of hydrogen and helium into clustering there. Then the gravity generators went to work, nullifying the local electromagnetic field of the star as they pulled up thousands, then millions of tons of hydrogen and helium. pulling it into a spiral that arched upwards towards the worldships. then the spiral split, one stream heading between the 4 sections of one of the worldships, splitting further into 4 streams that headed through 4 open tubes, gathering into large reserves as they became solar matter. The other stream split like a tree, splitting across the hull of the worldship, arching into the large spinning streams around the cylindrical machines. The spinning blue moderators gaining mass as the generators empowered themselves.
Thus the worldships stood still, their darkened hulls reflecting just about everything that the star sent their way. siphoning millions of tons of the stars fuel, much lost to fusion in the process of siphoning. It all took over a minute, then the 4 beams which the worldships used to excite their area of extraction turned off, and the gravity was left to go back to normal. The gravitational generators of the worldships lifting them away, acting truly as an omnidirectional thruster array, accelerating each of the worldships towards a barren rock planet each. but it would take some time to reach them. but not as long as it took them to get within 100'000 kilometres of the star as now many more of their gravity genereators came online, spewing out their gamma radiation as they quickly accelerated the worldships quickly up to 0.1C.
Then after several seconds as the worldships passed 2 million kilometres away from the star, the dark shields which had protected the worldships from the deadly forces of the star itself dissipated, allowing it's radiation to leak out to create a radioactive trail behind the worldships that eventually dissipated into the background radiation. The shining green hull of the worldships mixing with the bright cyan glow of the gravitational generators as they produced the powerful electromagnetic fields that transported the worldships.
They were open to being contacted again.
