As the ship was about to fire it´s scans, another ship appeared nearby, likely through hyperspace or another ftl method.
The scanning impulse was continued regardless.
The new ship seemed to be relatively small, but heavily armed, it was scanning the wreckages as well, including their surroundings, due to the 'Delta' ships scanning impulse it had likely been noticed, however with the radiation and the cloaking it was unlikely that they were able to make out it´s exact location...
The results of the scan were interesting, amongst the debris were things which seemed to have come out of the cargo containers and even those which were still intact, were still here ...and filled.
So whatever destroyed the ships was likely not after the cargo.
The ships themselves showed marks of heavy kinetic weaponry, and sections of molten metal indicated the use of some sort of heat based weaponry as well, lastly, one of the chunks of debris had a massive dent, as if the ship it belonged to was rammed.
This still didn´t explain the heavy radiation.
Due to said radiation the scans were, somewhat, inaccurate, so it was hard to make out any lifesigns, however some of the reactors of the cargoships were still running and two of the originally three distress signals were still operating, the shiptype seemed to be registered as 'Cargogiant' by 'General Space Logistics', in the sector a relatively renown ship manufacturer, aside from that there was not much more information to get by external scans.
Namek
As they started to scan their surroundings, they noted it was originally three ships in total, there was alot of wreckage flying around and one of the ships was so heavily damaged that it was hard to make out it´s original size...
The ships had the marks of heavy weaponry, jagged holes, dented metal and bursted armor indicating kinetic weaponry, and chunks of molten debris indicating something heat based...
Apart of that however there seemed to one more ship nearby, indicated by a strong scanning impulse coming from... somewhere near teh ships, the ship itself seemed to be cloaked however and with the radiation it was difficult to locate and identify, aside from that the scans did however bring some degree of useful information, albeit flawed.
The entire surrounding area, including the wreckages and debris, seemed to be irradiated to abnormal levels, making the scans still useful, but somewhat inaccurate... and likely also causing heavy genetic defects on anyone who would dare to leave the ship without a radiation proof suit...
The next things was, that two of the distress signals of the ships, were still going, some of the reactors were even still running.
Lastly, some of the cargoboxes were still intact, so whoever did this, was likely not after the loot...
Maybe a good sign for the mercenaries.
It was unlikely there was still any life in the wreckage, however even if there was any, the radiation prevented scans that were detailed enough to find it, at least from this position...
(A sidenote, if any of you want to go to one of the ships, please specify which one.)
