Right now, I feel that mines could use a slight buff as they don't deal enough reliable damage and fast ships can just fly past them.
Possible buffs:
-More damage.
-More consistent spread of the shrapnel.
-Higher HP against pd / flak.
-Nerfs to maybe balance out the buffs:
-Maximum cap so that the oldest mines will expire without exploding when a new one is created (Idk like 20-40 mines).
Other interesting ideas:
-Allow tractor beams to repel the mines - gives them some extra use as they could use a bit more love rn.
-Make them harder to see at range (some sort of invisibility cloak thing) that gets clearer as your nearer, sensors should be able to make them much clearer.
